Yemen Petroleum Company (YPC) is the leading public sector company in the Republic of Yemen and one of the most important economic tributaries of the country and was established as a result of the merger of the Yemen Hydrocarbon Company (north) and the National Oil Company (south) following the declaration of unity between the two countries in 1990. In the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen, it established a company to market petroleum products in the fifties as a branch of Shell, which was then called Shell Red Sea Company Ltd., then its name was changed to Shell Aden Company Ltd. and in 1969 the name of the company became the National Oil Company. After the declaration of unity between the two countries on the twenty-second of May 1990, the Council of Ministers Resolution No. (191) stipulated the merger of the two companies into one company called the Yemen Petroleum Company with a new logo is the logo of the National Oil Company The Council of Ministers decision specified the main tasks of the company, which is the implementation of the general policy of the state in the field of marketing, transportation and storage of oil derivatives, oils and greases.
